Our 5 Days Tour of Burundi Visiting Bujumbura gives you a chance to explore the wonders of Burundi.
Day 1: Arrival, Tour of Bujumbura & Rusizi National Park
Following your arrival at Bujumbura International Airport, you will be met and welcomed by your experienced driver/guide and embark on the tour of Bujumbura city including the Belvedere climb which gives you a great view of the city.
You will then visit the independence monument and the historical rock lying in the city suburbs that commemorates the meeting point for explorers Dr. Livingston and Stanley during their exploration journeys in Burundi.
Have lunch and drive to Rusizi National Park for a boat cruise that will bring you closer to Hippos, Crocodiles, and birds of different species. You will as well get to observe the point at which its waters enter Lake Tanganyika.
Return for dinner and overnight stay at Club du Lac Tanganyika Hotel.
Day 2; Source of the Nile Tour & Karera Waterfalls
Enjoy a tasty breakfast, set your camera lenses, and head out for a visit to the remotest source of the Nile River in Burundi and the renowned Kerera waterfalls.
Along the way, you will enjoy marvelous sites of tea plantations that create remarkable landscapes and amazing photographic opportunities.
After visiting the source of the Nile, you will visit the waterfalls and then drive to Gitega which is the current capital city of Burundi and the former colonial capital. Here, you will visit the museum and its collection of artifacts, the city administrative offices, the catholic church, and a number of schools.
Have lunch and visit the Gishora Drum Sanctuary – a place that is host to the two drums that have never been beaten; Murimirwa and Ruciteme, all intimately linked to the vocation of farming and considered to bring fertility! You will experience the cultural traditions of Burundi at the Gishora drum sanctuary.
Dinner and overnight stay at either Helena Hotel or Orange Lodge
Day 3: Visit Ruvubu National Park & Back to Bujumbura
Enjoy breakfast and embark on the drive to Ruvubu National Park where you will embark on the game drive and expect to encounter wildlife including Buffalos, Antelopes, Monkeys and birds of different species.
The drive to Ruvubu takes you through some magnificent landscapes of the country’s central plateau. Return to Gitega for lunch and later proceed to Bujumbura. Dinner and overnight stay at Club du Lac Tanganyika Hotel.
Day 4: Visit Kigwena Reserves & Rumonge Fishermen
Breakfast will be served and depart Bujumbura for Kigwena National Park where you will embark on a forest walk and look out for Chimpanzees, different monkey species and baboons.
You will also visit the Mugara spring which is a famous spot for visitors as it is believed to possess healing power. Have lunch at Blue Bay Resort and relax at the beach.
You can either spend the night here or drive back to Bujumbura in the evening. Dinner and overnight stay at Club du Lac Tanganyika Hotel.
Day 5: Airport Transfer & Departure
This will be your last day in Burundi. Enjoy breakfast at leisure, go for last-minute shopping, or check out any other places you might have missed and later transfer to the airport for your onward flight marking the end of this unforgettable 5 Days Burundi Safari Tour.
