Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
You will be picked up from your hotel in Kigali and go for a visit to the Genocide memorial site in Kigali. Have lunch and embark on your journey to Volcanoes National Park arriving late afternoon.
Overnight: Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge
Meals: Full Board
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking & Back to Kigali
Breakfast will be served early and lunch will be packed. The briefing is at 7 am. Your guide will give you highlights of specific details about the way of life of the gorillas you will be tracking. The hike can take anything from one to seven hours.
Trekking through the steep, bamboo slopes and then finally coming across the gorillas camouflaged in the vegetation is an awe-inspiring and privileged moment. Once you reach the gorillas, you are allowed to spend up to a maximum of one hour with them as you stand 6 meters away.
And although the 6-meter distance is the requirement, the Gorillas do not understand this and it is not unusual that they will come crosser or even brush your leg!
Once your hour is spent, you will head out of the forested mountain and return to the starting point from where you will receive your Gorilla trekking certificate, and embark on the drive back to Kigali and drop-off at the airport or your hotel in Kigali.
